Speaking at our Rotary Club Meeting, Friday April 5th, 2013

Dr. Charles Ambrose, president of UCM took some time this morning to give us some insights into the Innovation Campus under construction here in Lee’s Summit. One of my favorite stories was about a group of students (23) that will be going thru a pilot program, which is a full graduate degreed program, for free. What is 4 years of college, a degree and an average debt load of 23,000 per student will be turned into 3 years of college, a degree, job placement upon graduation and zero debt. This plan involves partnering with several large firms from the area including the R7 schools and the Summit Tech Center. Its Dr. Ambrose’s vision that once opened, every student who attends college will get an opportunity to graduate with as little debt as possible and already be working in there respective field. With the unemployment rate of graduate students at an all time high, 50%, this couldn’t come at a better time for our students.
